So... she invented. When mother of three, Sally Rosario, found that two-thirds of her children suffered multiple food allergies, she invented Eat Me. Before having children, Sally and her husband Colin knew little about food allergies. Colin thought they were all in the mind. Sally was apathetic. Their first child ate everything, growing chubby and tall. But when a banana put Alexander, their 7-month-old second child in hospital, allergies became a nasty reality. Alexander got sick and then he got sicker. He was finally diagnosed in the Royal Children’s Hospital as having multiple food allergies, including many basic food groups. It was his first birthday. Two years later, little brother Thomas – a fat little bundle of joy who thrived on his mother’s milk – started solids. It took a little longer and the symptoms were slightly different, but there it was. Tommy was an allergy kid too. So, as this story began – necessity became the mother of invention. Unable to go to a cafe, a restaurant or simply boil an egg for her two boys, Sally looked for an alternative. She found gluten free and nut free, dairy free and soy free. She didn’t find anything that was free from it all, which would satisfy her children and simplify her life. Media showed Sally that food allergies are on the rise.
